San José Public Library Foundation
A Digital Transformation in San José
San José Public Library Foundation
When the San José Public Library Foundation (SJPLF) was ready for a website overhaul, they called Digital Pollen Collective to create a new web presence that effectively served their community + addressed their unique dual audiences. Together, we developed a solution that leveraged streamlined navigation, intuitive search paths, and compelling messaging to guide users from headline-to-detail with strategic CTAs—and measurable results.
Post-launch, the new site has been celebrated by SJPLF’s donors, government partners, leadership, and staff as an effective new tool for the organization and one that positions the Foundation as community responders and proactive partners to the Library and City of San José – bringing philanthropic power (and awareness!) to its 25 public library locations and beyond.

Key Strategies, Insights, and Ahas!
Strategy
Streamlined Navigation
By reimagining navigation, we ensured users were finding content in fewer clicks, and met with intuitive search paths. Giving the site a proactive, focused feel.
Strategy
Balancing Dual Audiences + Motives
Because SJPLF has a distinct relationship with both the City of San José and the Library, they serve two audiences with differing financial motives: donors wanting to give and grant applicants seeking funding. To address these needs, we kept use cases for each audience separate in navigation – delineating the Foundation’s roles as a financial administrator and a philanthropic partner.
